Recent reports out of Henry County recognized the naming of a local officer as Officer of the Month for June after he recovered a stolen vehicle.

According to the investigation, Officer Richard Loignon was able to track down a stolen vehicle and arrest the man who stole the vehicle. The car was stolen out of Locust Grove. He was able to stop the vehicle for a basic traffic violation which led to the discovery of the fact that the car was stolen.

As a Henry County DUI Lawyer, I see examples of how smaller traffic violations can lead to more serious criminal charges all the time. Thats why, even though our firm focuses on DUI in Henry County, we handle all types of related offenses.

In today's post, I will outline how certain traffic offenses can lead to DUI investigation.

DUI Related Offenses in Henry County

If you have been arrested for driving under the influence, then you probably were charged or cited for related offenses.

For example, before being investigated and charged with a DUI, a driver was pulled over for some other offense other than DUI. Officers are tipped off to drivers driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs as a result of examples of less safe driving. These offenses can include:

  • Speeding
  • Failing to maintain lane
  • Reckless driving
  • Racing
  • Following too closely, etc.

There are many other basic traffic violations that can initiate a DUI investigation. Then there are related offenses that can happen as a result of a more in depth investigation. These offenses can include:

  • Driving without insurance
  • Violating probation
  • Drug possession
  • Driving without a license, etc.

We specialize on DUI Defense in Henry County. As I mentioned before, that includes all of the minor traffic offenses related to DUI and anything found in the car after an investigation or arrest.

Practice Note

We are here to support you. Just because you committed a traffic violation does not mean that you are guilty of that violation or for any offenses that you might be accused of committing after the stop or investigation.
